Overcoming Murphy's Law
-- Anything that
can go wrong will go wrong.
My daughter Hannah called me up
early this morning and she said that she prayed for everyone's safety and then
some truck blew a tire and almost crashed into her. It may be a good thing she
prayed for everyone's else safety because in that instance -- she reaped what
she sowed.
My friend Scott and I were headed to Monroe Lake to
host a single's group when they rented a Pontoon boat with my two wave runners
before we went we prayed. One thing I've experienced in boating is people can
get hurt and either mechanical failures of the wave runners or the trailer
wheels. Out of the corner of my eye when the highway merge to go to Bloomington,
Indiana, I saw a woman who was not yielding when I had the right of way. She
could have ran into the back of the wave runners.
I know that many times we live our lives on
automatic pilot, but I've learned more and more to pray the Lord's prayer.
"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Luke
11:4
God make me more aware of my surroundings and other
people's mistakes. This is especially true with people who have ran red lights.
My husband I were amazed at times on those home
improvement projects that we thought were going to be a piece of cake and then
some unforeseen circumstance that makes them 1-2 hours longer than expected.
It's good to lead out in prayer in life to frame
your morning. As a married woman, I prayed for my husband for his job --- God
help him not to bid too high or too low as an estimator. It was a high-pressure
job. I also asked God's grace on our marriage and for God's wisdom on how to
love and minister to my husband.
Those are building blocks I plan to take into my
next relationship.
It says a wise woman builds her house. It's the
same with children as far as my counsel to my daughters and building up their
self-esteem in life. Women tend to have a low self-esteem and they focus too
much on their looks (outward beauty). Then if they don't feel good/pretty - they
tend to put themselves down. I can't speak for men, but I was always trying to
build up my husband's self-esteem also. It seemed to be related to how well he
did on his job.
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own
hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1
