What
happened in Boston, shootings at schools, a movie theater, and 9/11, it's part
of the war zone in life. There has always been a battle in life between good
and evil.
The battle actually started before the creation of man. Some people believe that maybe Lucifer was upset that God wanted to create man and woman in his image since man is man is lower than the angels, Hebrews 2:7 and Psalm 8:5, but the angels are our ministering spirits. Hebrews 1:14 (He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Luke 10:18)
I like this picture I saw, “No War Zone.” Our home should be a haven, not a war zone. It’s that we can love each other to go out and do battle. Our church should be a haven, not a war zone, it’s so we can love and go out and do battle, a fellowship or Bible study should be a haven it’s so we can love and go out and do battle.
When there is war, there are casualties of war. There were casualties in Adam and Eve’s life from their sin when they lost one of their sons when he murdered his brother. God warned Cain that evil was lurking at his door and if he continued to do good than he would be pleasing to God, but Cain refused to listen to God’s inner voice.
If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it." Genesis 4:7
I’ve noticed some people have an aggressive campaign. What concerns me is if we get passive and apathetic in life when Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is taken my force. It's being more proactive in sharing our faith and in prayer.
From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it. Matthew 11:12
I realize that many people don’t see earth as a war zone, but they see it as permanent place. The older one gets in life, the more wake up calls. One day on earth is like a thousand years to God – It’s because we are limited to time and space, but God is not and He sees the big picture. The whole football field of life. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega – the Beginning and the End.
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 2 Peter 3:8
I was at this Bible study and this woman leading the meeting made the comment that we should not see ourselves fighting a battle. I find that totally contrary to what God has been showing me as far as in Ephesians 6 it says we are in a warfare and we are to wear the armor of God and pray always. What I believe God is saying is not to focus on the heat of the battle as far as our warfare against the enemy, focus on our victory and our victor is Jesus Christ. He is the conquering king who defeated Satan and I believe he is coming back. Not sure if it will be my lifetime.
The disciples were experienced fishermen and seamen, but they were overwhelmed at the storm that came against them. They woke up Jesus and said, “Lord do you care if we perish?” I believe that every person sooner or later if they have a tragedy in their life is going to ask that question. Don’t you care God? If people are honest they will admit they have asked that question before God. I’m sure many victims asked it on 9/11. God why did this happen to my family? What did I do to deserve this?
There is a boldness towards fighting evil we see that in the book of Acts, that when the church was persecuted, the apostles and followers of Jesus got more persistent. Bad things that happen to us can discourage us or get us more determined. There is this one quote I always liked on the first Star Wars movie is when Princess Leia says, “General Tarkin, the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.” I like to see a woman stand up to an evil man. Christians need to get more aggressive. Aggressive in fighting sin in our own lives too.
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Colossians 3:5
How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Psalm 19:12
