I liked the former television series “Breaking Bad” because unlike the
Disney movies where they poke fun at criminals in “Home Alone” it has
more a ruthlessness with those who partner in crime like working for Darth Vader on Star Wars.
Times can get difficult in life and we can either beg, borrow or steal. For some the risk of stealing and getting caught has been replaced by beg, borrow or deal.
My experience in dealing with people on drugs in the 70’s was the hippie peace movement turned many into a bunch of junkies knifing people at Talbot Village here in Indy. There are some areas of Indy on the Eastside that is like that.
In fact, for a school project I had a few years ago, at the university I worked for in computer graphics, a man did his project on a drug deal that went bad and he was shot. He was lucky to live and is now in a wheelchair, but he gave his life to Christ.
Solomon's request:
"Two things I asked of You, Do not refuse me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, That I not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the Lord?" Or that I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God." Proverbs 30:7-9
Lying and deception go along with stealing, and the character of Walt started lying to his wife about what he was doing. As God’s children, He does not want us doing any of those. To beg for a place to stay or our physical needs:
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. Psalm 37:25
It says that “God gives us the ability to gain wealth.” Duet. 8:18. For me with having five children and little child support divorced, it was renting out my two-car garage until I remarried to get some extra income to make my house payment to stay off welfare and food stamps.
As a widow now, it’s been renting out my house to two roommates. It’s not been selling Weed!
It’s seeking to become the head in life not the tail and be independent of man. Creditors were always calling my husband trying to get him to borrow money because he had a good credit score.
Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8
Like Breaking Bad, we are robbing children of their innocence through pornography/sex traffic and drugs where we abuse or kill a child. We already have seen that where the offspring of a whale is more important than our own offspring with an abortion and robbing children of their future with school shootings.
I remember all too well what it was like in the characters of Jesse and Jane in shooting up drugs only my boyfriend turned me on to speed. I was the dummy who gave him my arm to shoot me up. I’m glad I had a short run with that type of life as far as when I was 16 years old and became a believer at 17 years old. It was the excitement or “rush” I enjoyed.
I only did it a few times because of conviction by the Holy Spirit on my life most likely because my sister and her church were praying for me.
God dealt with me about breaking up with my boyfriend as a teenager who got me more into drugs, and not going back with him. A couple years later, the Lord lead me to fast and pray for him and at that time he did become a Christian, but he still struggled with alcohol and drugs all his life.
One of the big differences between Jesus and us is that He is the only man besides the first Adam who was born without sin. Our flesh enjoys sin and some of us have certain "weaknesses of the flesh." It could be sex, it could be alcohol and drugs, it can be a sugar or food addiction. After we became a new creature in Christ Jesus take over as far as we are “partakers of the divine nature.” It’s letting our new nature take over and getting our minds and flesh to that new nature of Christ.
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.. 2 Peter 1:4
I heard Marilyn Hickey say something on television and it really surprised me. Same with Joyce Meyer, it’s letting people go down the dark road. Two children raised in the same household and Joyce gave her life to serve others, while her brother passed away from drugs. Her brother could have been out sharing the gospel with her.
I’ve thought many times that if people really want to go to hell, than let them go. But those people are not my kids. I don’t want my children going to hell or dying from a drug overdose and neither does God. I don’t want my children, and grand children being failures in life and neither does God.
We are warned in the last days it will be like the days of Noah and it will be hard to get people to come into the ark which is Jesus. Noah preached for 40 years and only saved his own household. I’m very thankful that my life and run with drugs was very short lived.
The Lord uses many of us to minister to others who have been through a similar trial or weakness of the flesh because we understand those weaknesses.
Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives. Jude 1:23
Moses could only see the backside of God’s glory, but through the power of the Holy Spirit, we experience his glory on the inside of us.
It was not behavior modification where I just changed the outside of what I do, but the power came on the inside. John the Baptist talked about this when he said, “The axe is laid at the root of the tree.” The change started from the roots and produces new branches in our lives. The old branches die. The strength to change comes within (the Holy Spirit).
