Can't Get No Satisfaction? Who Let the Dogs Out?

When I was a child, my brother played guitar in a rock-n-roll garage band in high school and we lived in a country type area.  His base guitar player went on to play later for John Mellencamp.  My parents did not have a garage so his band played in the house and it vibrated from the sound of my brother’s band practice sessions.  One of my favorite songs was, I Can’t Get no Satisfaction.   In the song, he talks about, “I can't get no girly action.” I heard the song again last Saturday at a dance I went to with singles.

Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. Proverbs 27:20

The girly action...some men are like dogs.  They will sleep with anything.  If you don’t believe me just go to a secular single’s dance and a girl will come walking in a tight short skirt or dress, half drunk and watch men go for her.

Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. Revelation 22:15
Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh. Philip 3:2
Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.  Psalm 22:16
Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. Psalm 22:20

There is no perfect guy out there, but I want one as close to Jesus as possible….wanted…one that walks on water…Neo from the Matrix would do fine.  He overcame the programming of this world to defeat evil agent Smith.  Next, there is Superman…able to leap tall buildings in a single bound and those bullets bounce off the pupil of his eyes.  James Bond was too much a womanizer, but I like his charm.  Gee, I guess I’ll settle for Underdog.   From what I remember Underdog was a cartoon about a dog who helped those who were underdogs in life.  A guy who comes out of his bad circumstances as far as eating humble pie and turns his circumstances in life around.

I like to dissect a guy like a frog in Biology class.  I can’t count how many women dissect their relationships way too much.  They should give it a rest and have fun.  Guys are pretty simple to figure out.  I did not spend my time over analyzing my marriage.  It was a lot of fun.  There were just two main things that made my husband tick.  There may be a few men that have more complex intelligence on the planet.   I guess aliens and I are similar as far as our dissecting human beings.

Dissection (also called anatomization) is usually the process of disassembling and observing something to determine its internal structure and as an aid to discerning the functions and relationships of its components.

I'm always looking for a man who is the "exception to the rule."  I had a man who was an exception to the rule as far as he did not hold on to bitterness from the divorce. But in the mean time, I'm going to find my contentment by being in the presence of God.  I used an analogy awhile back when I go to any single’s social event with a bunch of couples, which happened to me several times during the holidays, it is like when my dad and I went fishing all day when I was a child on vacation at Big Round Lake in Racine, Wisconsin and we did not catch any fish.   We sat in the rain all day for several days, it was cold, I had squishy night crawler worms all over my hands or grasshoppers I used as bait (besides the artificial lures poking my hands), and we both caught nothing.  Then we would smell the cooking fish on the Coleman stove next to us. The smell of fresh fish cooking when we were hungry and cold was tormenting.

If I am stuffed full (satisfied) than the smell of fresh fish cooking would not torment me.  As I get filled up with God (satisfied) what other people do in life or say to me will not bother me, because I’ve got God’s love glasses on and its God who has satisfied me in life:

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. and human hands can't serve his needs--for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. Acts. 17:25
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 103:5
for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things Psalm 107:9
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6

I realize that the “fear of God” or reverence for God is not in some people’s lives as far as what they do.   There is a difference between having a healthy respect for sin and being afraid of God.  I was offered free drugs right after I became a Christian and it was a temptation because my flesh wanted to smoke them, but I did not want to hurt my fellowship with God.   I turned it down, not because I was afraid that God was going to punish me, but because I knew it would hurt my fellowship with my heavenly Father and I am in a love relationship with him.  It’s like being in a marriage and you love that person so you don’t want to hurt them because you love them.  Love wants what is best for a person and I consider that smoking marijuana would grieve the spirit of God in my life,  because I’m in union with God like a marriage (would be displeasing to God). When I sin, I grieve the spirit of God because of that union I have with his spirit:

There is no fear of God before their eyes." Romans 3:18
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30
But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 1 Cor. 6:17

When I was dating my husband the first question I asked since he worked at a construction company is if he flirted with women and cussed, and if he had been unfaithful to his ex-wife.  The other was that he was not involved in looking at pornography.  He passed my moral conscience tests.  It's because when I was in high school I had to catch the late school bus from sporting events and these construction workers would make obscene comments to us and it really scared my neighbor girl friends and I.  Our parents finally got the bus driver to change routes and drop us closer to home.  It was a country road and these guys could have molested us since there were no houses within a mile.  It was about a mile walk to our homes.   Since then I experienced other obscene comments from construction workers and I wanted to make sure my husband was not a participator in behavior I would determine obscene.

My husband was a estimator inside the construction office so he was not surrounded by men who possibly could drag him down with these types of behavior.   When I lived in Florida, I know a Christian wife that was learning to be a beautician, but she started going out for drinks with her single co-workers after work.  After awhile, she decided to leave her husband and two children and be single.  I hear these types of marriage stories over and over.  I met a Christian guy who works in a factory where people swear all the time and I know how that can vex your spirit and drag you down into the behavior.

Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." 1 Cor. 15:33
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. Psalm 1:1

There is the saying, "boys will be boys."  Well men will men, either carnal men or spiritual men.

The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; Roman 8:6

I get disappointed sometimes even by Christian single men and I have prayed for their behavior and the Lord spoke to me they have an incredible low self esteem.   I realize that many men think if they can score physically with a woman that builds up their self esteem.  I like the song Save Yourself by Sense Field, because he talks that you can’t build up your self esteem through sexual conquests it’s the opposite.  You will lose your soul.  You want a person who sees you as valuable and precious.  I’ve posted the lyrics below.

The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Jeremiah 17:9
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Mark 8:36

I've sought different things in life.  Looked for cars, houses, jobs, things that I lost like my check book, jewelry.  I placed the single's ad in a magazine to find my husband.  God is seeking worshippers.  Maybe we should answer God's ad?  Lord here am I.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  John 4:23

Save Yourself - Sense Field

Turn out the lights.
Just say goodnight

To yourself.

May I remind you

When you find you

Are all alone's when you've

Got to be strong.

That's when they call you

In the night.

He's got your picture

In his mind.

He's got your number

On a paper

At his disposal

Anytime.

Is he really true?

Could you save yourself

For someone who

Could love you for you?

So many times

We just give it away

To someone who,

Someone who,

You met in a bar.

The back of a car.

And for a moment

You felt important

But not in your heart.

'Cause my self esteem -

It's been low.

Go ahead and count.

It's been lower than low.

I know the feeling

Of it stealing

Right out from under me.

'Cause I wanna learn -

How you save yourself

For someone who

Could love you for you.

So many times

We just give it away

To someone who

Could you save yourself

For someone who

Loves you for you?

Loves me for me?

Give it away

To someone who

Someone who

Will cherish your name.

'Cause I wanna learn.

Could you save yourself

For someone who

Loves you for you?

And loves me for me?

Give it away

To someone who,

Someone who'll

Cherish your name...

Cherish your name...
