The police were out in full force on I465 especially the weekend for the Speedway Motor Bike Race to bust anyone speeding on the interstate. The Bible talks about the police are here as “God’s servants.” (Romans 13:4) We know that that police overstep it at times.
Many people may think that God is like some giant traffic cop – there is one mark for Sally, there is one mark for Sue. There are many times, I don’t quite understand why things go wrong in my life. Why bad things happen to me, but I realize it’s not all about what I do right or wrong in life, what I say that is right or wrong. It’s about putting my trust in a loving God.
I spoke to the widow across the street in my subdivision where we live about how the Homeowners Association has become my Egyptian taskmasters in life. My husband was Joseph and he served on the Board for 11 years. People in the subdivision begged him to serve every year, because they said there were “busybodies” that wanted to be on the board. Now Joseph is dead (my husband).
Those busybodies go around and they write tickets to everyone in the neighborhood, and then have a lawyer send letters and it discourages us who have lived there for 14-15 years. Same way with Satan he goes around and he writes tickets in life for everything we do wrong with sickness, disease, poverty, mishaps, etc. Satan is the discourager (oppressor).
Another widow like me said that she went to the home owners meeting and said they needed to do care packages or appreciation cards for those who do something right. She did not need a letter about how her mailbox was a little short right after her husband died after being faithful for 15 years to follow the rules to the best of her ability in the subdivision. She is like a “modern” day Moses.
It literally makes me angry at times and I start feeling like a Rambo or something. I think of that scripture where it says, “The law produces wrath.” (For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression. Romans 4:15)
Who wants a ticket after a storm when a tree falls down or shingles come off and you are trying to get your insurance company out or find a good Samaritan to cut up you tree? I can see why small towns and the Amish work so well.
Many lobbyists, union reps, and advocates go and lobby for their cause or the cause of the weak, underprivileged or handicap in life.
We have an advocate and his name is Jesus Christ who ever lives to make intercession before the throne room of God and I thank God it’s not about what I do or don’t know, what I say or don’t say, “I’m the righteousness of God because of what Jesus did for me.”
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.. 1 John 2:1
Anyway, I’m “tempted” to go above the speed limit so I set my car to cruise control. There were three times, I was excited about going somewhere and I got stopped by traffic police and I prayed and I said, “God I am at your mercy seat today.” I don’t want what I deserve in life, I’m praying for grace today.
I’ve gotten three verbal warnings all those times and not even a written warning!
I’m not using that as an “excuse” to sin, but I mess up at times. I’m God’s kid and I’m sure you can relate that kids make mistakes from time to time.
Just trying to keep that cruise control on as much as possible…….but I am very thankful that I can call on God’s grace when I need it.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
