Jesus
said the whole do not need a physician, but the sick. I'm not called to the
righteous, I'm called to the sick. That is why God has led me back into helping
people with spousal loss.
Mindset: Is a set of beliefs
or a way of thinking, that determines one’s outlook and mental attitude.
When I used to see young teen men with their pants falling down usually it's at the airport, grocery store or walking down the side of the road, I used to think "how despicable," but then the Lord said, "Don't call what was made in God's image despicable." God made male and female in his image, "blessed them and called their name Adam." Now I bless men with their pants falling down. I say, "God bless them."
As a single woman, I realize that the battlefield of my mind is the same as men, as far as I've turned down opportunities to go see the movie Magic Mike, the Chippendales, and Sex and the City movie.
Paul said that everything is lawful, but not everything in life edifies us. I'm looking for edification of my spirit woman.
If I'm going to expect men to respect me, and take a stand against pornography, than I realize I've been brought up also to focus on men's bodies by watching Tarzan, Hercules, Conan the Barbarian, and all these movies that focus on the outward man rather than the hidden/inward man of the heart. (1 Peter 3:4).
When I was growing up, I had a good relationship with my brother. My brother probably held me down and farted in my face like many older brothers do, but my opinion on men was very good because of my friendship with my big brother. My brother was not always the best role model, but he settled down in college.
Same way with my husband, he was brought up the oldest of two sisters and he had a good relationship with his sisters.
I've spoken to women who had rather cruel jealous sisters and then it tends to filter into their relationships with other women in the church, when some of the same behavior starts happening. It's sort of a reinforcement of how we grew up.
I can trace many of men's problems with other women can be due to their mother, but many times it's in relationship with their sister or their own wife with their brother or father. I know women who have been molested by their step-brothers. I had an attempted molestation by a relative and I've spoken to many Christian women who had attempted molestations by babysitter husbands.
It is the enemy trying to make us feel cheap about ourselves by people we look up to (older men) in our adolescent years.
There was this part in the movie Hitch who is a dating coach where this guy talks about how he wants to bang a woman to get it out of his system and Hitch says, "My clients actually like women." All that is saying is "I do not respect a woman."
Several times Paul says "to put off" the deeds of the flesh. Paul also said that although we knew Jesus Christ after the flesh we are to know him and each other no more after the flesh, but after the spirit. (2 Cor. 5:16) If we are so concerned about how we look, what clothes we are wearing, if our nails are done, then it takes away from the spirit woman (man) inside of us. That is what Peter was talking about in being more concerned about our attitudes of our heart. (1 Peter 3:4)
The series by Andy Stanley on Love, Sex and Dating is to point out that society would have us believe through pornography and rap songs that women are a commodity and #1 Your wife's body is never going to be good enough #2 trade in a new model in the future #3 it takes many women to satisfy a physical hunger. We have grown up with the car commercials and the Bible warns that the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. Proverbs 27:20
One of the things my husband noticed when we got our dream trip to Hawaii is how many men his age on that trip had women ten years younger. It was sponsored through a vendor at his company.
It is a change of mindset from this world to give honor and respect to each other. That we are not a "b" or a hole or whatever the modern day songs try to put labels on women or cause us not to see each other through God's eyes created in his image. (Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10)
