What is Our Hope and Self Esteem built on? Is it built on sinking sand?

I sat down with a divorced woman and she made a comment to me. "You must have an incredible good self-esteem that your husband loved you being 42 lbs. heavier than you are today." No, my spouse did not like my weight gain and he was overweight too so he had "no room to talk."

He did not compliment me hardly at all or say very much "I love you" in the 14 years we were married.  Jesus noticed only one man returned to say "Thank you" when he healed the ten lepers so I make it a point to thank the Lord on regular basis for things in my life.

Sometimes I get "distracted" from thanking the Lord like when Sunday I got a check for a renter deposit of $200 that was just enough to cover my car payment due the next day.  I got a migraine headache right after I took the check  so it distracted me from saying "Thank you God" for helping me find a good renter.

My husband said he did not compliment women in the office either. I did not grow up getting compliments from my dad or any man I was married to for 28 years. My self-esteem is not built on what I do or any person's approval, or my job in life. My self esteem is built on so much more than that!

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

Zechariah 3:1-5

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?”Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”

Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.” Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less
