One thing I've noticed about short people it's like
short dogs, they don't usually like to be bossed around. God is no respecter of
persons. He will use anyone or anything he can. He used a donkey to correct the
prophet Balaam not to curse the children of
Israel. Number 22:1-41.
We see that Satan spoke through a snake (that was his mouthpiece). Saul was a tall king and he seemed to have too much pride in himself. We have the example of how God chose Gideon. Gideon who said he was the least and smallest of his house. Judges 6:15. Gideon recognized no significance in himself to be a mighty warrior, but he found his significance in God. Paul was of short stature. David was a ruddy lad when he defeated Goliath.
She Gets it from her Mama:
When a neighbor boy threw a rock and broke my two front teeth when I was a young girl (we were having one of our childhood spats) I saw my mother face off with the neighbor woman, because the neighbor boy touched the apple of my mother’s eye. I also saw my mother go back and kick out a bunch of wild teenage boys from an alcoholic/drug party that got out of hand when my brother was supposed to have a few friends over. My dad was concerned his anger would get the best of him so my dad sent my 5’2”-5”4” mother to do the job.
My mother faced giants – the neighbor woman was more fierce and tough (larger), but my mother got her crying. All those teenage boys somewhere around 6’ tall, but my mother chased them out of our back house. “Though she be small she be fierce.”
What I see with the runt of the litter in just trying to survive, a premature baby, or someone shorter in life is a tenacity (perseverance) that reminds me of a pit-bull dog. It’s “I won’t give up attitude.” I won’t cow down or bow down like the Hebrew children refused to bow down and worship the golden image, although the king was angry and threw them in a fiery furnace. Esau was the more outdoors man (macho man), but Jacob had this tenacity as the second born twin to take away Esau’s spiritual blessing and Esau did not have the gumption (stamina) to stop him. Genesis 25:29-34
Jesus talked about a “never give up attitude.” He said that men should always pray not give up. (Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1)
He gave the parable of a widow who kept bugging an unjust judge that did not fear God nor care about man, but the judge gave her the request to get him off his back, because she kept storming down the unjust judge doors.
And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.' For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, Yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!’ “Luke 18:3
Her bull dog tenacity paid off. It’s what I’ve noticed about short people, a bulldog tenacity. It’s our example of perseverance. In my Psychology class they call it the Napoleon complex.
and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance (steadfastness/patient endurance); and to perseverance, godliness; 2 Peter 1:6
Perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:4
because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:3-4
All men will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm you will gain life. Luke 21:17-19’
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph. 6:18
You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Rev 2:3
Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:3
But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:5
