But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far
superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a
far better covenant with God, based on better promises.
For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. Hebrews 8:6-7
I was talking to someone today who worked at a bank and it was robbed twice and she told me that one time she got tied up. She decided to get out of the bank business because of the trauma that happened in her life. She was the second person I talked to this week that had a lot of trauma in their life that they were having a hard time getting through the thoughts going through their minds over and over. One man I talked to was bitter toward God who had lost his job, had a handicap child, a car accident and than lost his marriage.
I woke up this morning and I was thinking about what happened to Job. First Job lost the cattle he made sacrifice for his children and then next, the roof came down on his children when they were partying. Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible. He did not have the written word of God which Jesus defeated Satan by "it is written." Not only that but we have the blood of Jesus. We can appropriate the blood of Jesus over our family and over our life.
Many people focus on Job got double, but what I believe getting double is a restoration of joy, peace and love in life. We can't replace precious loved ones, but God can replace his joy and peace in our life. He can also fill our heart with his love.
Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:7
I listened to a testimony of a woman who had a ministry in Africa and was teaching people skills when a band of terrorists came in and pointed a gun at her head. She got upset and said, "I am a child of God." She had a righteous indignation and those men left and did not harm her. It's a righteous anger that we refuse to let Satan walk all over our life.
Timothy talked about widows following Satan, I like to think of being two steps ahead of Satan in life and not "following" him.
So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander. For I am afraid that some of them have already gone astray and now follow Satan. 1 Timothy 5:14-15
