One thing I have found out from my daughter in sending out my resume
around is that the difference of being an Administrative Assistant and
Executive Assistant is who we work for. It's a difference
in California of making $40K vs. $80-90K. So I've had to dust off my
resume and put some older experience of working for two C.E.O.'s of
companies and a chancellor/city councilman. The big bucks are who we
work for. I thought college and what we do is more important, but to
them it's working for a high executive (experience).
So does the devil love Prada?
It's really the same way with God. It's not so much about what we do or who we are (new creatures in Christ). We serve a living God. Like he told Moses, "I am that I am, tell them I am sent you." He is the master of the universe.
Paul understood this for he said "we are ambassadors of Christ." Even Jesus said it was not about him, he did not come in his own name, but he came in the name of his Father. It was the Father who bestowed honor on Jesus by saying, "This is my beloved son, you hear what he has to say."
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from t he cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" Matthew 17:5
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. John 5:43
We are warned that in the last days its going to be very similar to the days of Noah, that wickedness is going to prevail on the earth, that people will be more interested in partying, and it was sad that Noah preached for forty years and he could not get anyone to come in the ark and be saved with his family. I would just hope when it started raining and some of those people started beating on the door of the ark, that they remember some of Noah's words to call out to God at that time for their sins. That some of Noah's preaching soaked in to their hearts, although he could not save their physical lives. It's at that time like being between the twilight of our sleep and waking, I hope they called out to God for mercy.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Not everyone respects who we serve. Sort of reminds me of that movie The 300 where the messengers of the Babylon king came to deliver the message that they were to submit to their king and be spared, and they threw them in a pit. When Jeremiah preached he was thrown in a pit.
We do not serve an unrighteous king, but one who God sent as his only beloved son for us. He was the perfect obedient son and he did that for us, it's accepting what he did for us. Pride is saying that we can make it on our own in life. Solomon warned that pride comes before destruction and an arrogant spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 and Proverbs 18:12.
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Cor. 5:20
