We can’t turn back time in our lives. It’s sort of like that movie the “Time Machine”
where the man went back in time and he tried to save his fiancé, but every time
he went back she died again and again a different way.
So instead of concentrating on the past, he decided to make improvements with his knowledge and brought books to save the future generation.
The same thing happened to Joseph. If he would have remained with his father or Potiphar, he
may have never been promoted to be second in command to Pharaoh. The unfortunate circumstance of going to jail
by false accusation lead him to meet Pharaoh’s two servants and he told them
their dreams. He ended up being over
Potiphar who was the captain of the guard. Genesis 31:9, and saving Egypt and
the surrounding areas, including his family from famine.
I’m very partial to single parents. It’s because I was called as a single parent. I decided to become a Christian and my
boyfriend would not so we broke up. I
had two dreams not to go back with him and several scriptures that confirmed in
my heart not to go back with him.
At the time we broke up I was expecting his child so
at times it’s not always easy to follow God’s will. I asked God to “not lead me into temptation”
as far as taking away the “want to” go back with him.
Another single woman told me the same thing happened
to her. She had sent out wedding
announcements and she heard a voice say, “You will not marry that man.” It
turned out he was seeing another woman at the same time he was engaged to her.
Around three years after I broke up with my
boyfriend, I was in a Christian missionary group and I had a “leading” to pray
and fast for his salvation. A couple
years later I was visiting Indiana from Florida and he came up to me at the
church I was visiting. He had become a
Christian and he was married to a woman with a son and just had a baby. He still had struggles with alcohol and drug
addictions and he just passed away last week to a serious motorcycle accident.
When we are “naming it and claiming it” as far as
standing in faith for a prayer request, I like to separate prayer requests into
two categories.
The first category is financial and health.
As far as finances, God wants us to pay our bills it
says, “Let no debt remain outstanding.’
Owe nothing to
anyone--except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your
neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God's law. Romans 13:8
We are told in 1 John, “Beloved I wish you would
prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers.
Dear friend, I pray
that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your
soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2
Jesus told us “be it unto you according to your
faith.” “Be healed,” “Be whole.” “Your faith has made you whole.” When the men
let down their friend in Peter’s house it was the faith of the man’s friend’s
that made him whole.
The sick man is to call for the elders of the
church;
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders
of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the
Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord
will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. James 5:14-15
When it comes to a job, a ministry and a spouse I
like to pray “God your will be done” because God knows where I can be the most
productive.
I heard a minister teach on “Knowing the Will of
God” and he talked about taking a pastorship out of the will of God and it was
like every time he ministered his words fell to the ground there was no
anointing.
But when it comes to a relationship, a ministry, a
job, there are open doors where we can be more productive. It’s not enough to have a talent, but it’s
using a talent wisely. One person gained
five talents, the person that had one, we are told he could have put it in the
bank and gained interest.
I was going to a single’s Bible study and I did not
have a very good rapport with a group and when I walked outside I heard in my
spirit, “You are wasting your talents here.”
Same thing happened when someone asked me to lead worship at a
Bible study
– it was like I could not even sing on tune. I've had some people ask
me to go talk to some widows and it was like there was no gift or
anointing to talk to them.
Joel Osteen in his book "Break Out" talks about believing for a turn
around and having favor with those we may not normally have favor with,
but
I’ve been where there was an anointing and
although everything was not perfect at a single’s Bible study, I know that I
was in the perfect will of God leading worship for 3-4 years at that group and it was like these “packets of joy” I
got ministering there. Same way with talking to certain people.
It says that in God's presence there is "fullness of joy." Psalm 16:11
I like to think of myself as a weather vain and letting the spirit
blow me where He wills. It's not being blown and tossed to and fro by
circumstances and feelings, but being lead by the spirit. It says that
those who are lead by the spirit are the sons of God.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:14
I remember this song I sang a long time ago:
The wind of the Spirit blows where it will
It blows and it blows and it never is still
It comes from the Father to his sons here below
How do I know?
I can feel his love so.
