Is God and Egomaniac? Part 8: The Meek Will Inherit the Earth - Living Life Through God's Strength

The Meek Will Inherit the Earth

The military has a process of stripping you down so they can build you up and it’s because you are owned by the “U.S. Army.”  “We own you now.”  God is to own us.  There is a process of breaking a horse.  When a horse is broken with a saddle and bit, that horse is controlled by its rider through the leg pressure and the bridle.  Coach Bobbie Knight yelled at his basketball players and it was his process in stripping down the pride from young students who came to Indiana University.

Either we submit our wills to the Creator of the universe willingly or we will be broken.  We either fall on the rock which is Jesus Christ or "the Rock" will fall on us.

He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed." Matthew 21:44

Every person who has ever lived or has died is going to bend the knee willingly or unwillingly to Jesus when they stand before God.   It’s because his name has been exalted above every other name.

It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'" Romans 14:11
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, Philip 2:10
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name Philip 2:9

Jesus was also a man, which means he had a free will.  He prayed three times in the garden before he went to the cross, if it was possible to pass on the cup of suffering.  I don't know about you, but when it comes to suffering, I would tell God I would like to pass drinking that cup also!

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." Matthew 26:39
Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered. Hebrews 5:8

There are many choices in life and the most important choice is to make Jesus the Lord of our lives and serve Him.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Roman 10:9

Many Christians think that Satan is the ruler of this earth.  Have you heard the song, “He’s got the whole world in his hand?”  Actually the earth is God’s footstool where He props His feet up on.

A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. Psalm 24:1
or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.  Matthew 5:35
"'Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be? Acts 7:49 & Isaiah 66:1

Unfortunately, there many people that don’t have their hearts in the kingdom of God.

You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil--the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. Ephesians 2:2
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. Matthew 7:13

When Satan tempted Jesus and said the kingdoms of this world are his kingdoms, Jesus did not argue with Satan that he was saying an untruth.  Jesus told him that we are to serve God only.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'" Matthew 4:10

Maybe Satan showed Jesus the splendors of future Las Vegas.  It certainly has a lot of kingdoms built from man and hotels named after men.  There are many lusts of the flesh that can be fulfilled there.  It reminds me of the fairy tale Pinocchio’s Pleasure Island.

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Ephesians 2:3
For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

Satan is the god of this world system not the God of the earth.  So what is Satan the ruler of?  The financial and political system, forces of nature, decay, mold, diseases, sickness, death and people’s hearts.  When Jesus was taken before Pilate, Jesus said that he could not be ruler unless it was give to him from above and that the person who gave the power to Pilate had the greater sin.

Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin." John 19:11

You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil--the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. Ephesians 2:2

The worldly system belongs to Satan, but we can operate out of a different system and that is God’s financial system of giving.  This world is not our home, our treasures are to be in heaven, but God’s word says the meek will inherit the earth!

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place." John 18:36
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace. Psalm 37:11

“Meek: gentle, humble.  Meekness is curbing the "natural" desires to rebel, fight, have our own way, push ourselves forward, etc. We submit to the Lord in obedience to His will.  Meekness means walking according to the precepts of our vocation and controlling our attitudes toward our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Bury the old man by submitting to God and forebear and forgive one another.”

But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Peter 3:4
Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. Proverbs 16:9
Ephesians 4:1,2 - "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;"
Colossians 3:12 - "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;"

Moses spent 40 years in the desert before God sent him to set his people free in Egypt, probably getting reprogrammed from self-will and Egyptian thinking.

Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3

If we are stressing about things in life than we are not putting on meekness and we are trying to carry burdens on our own and we are not giving those burdens to the Lord.  We should not be fretting about our lives. It is promised if we humble ourselves under the hand of God (under God’s word) we will be exalted in due time.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:29
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. 1 Peter 5:6
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

Take Heed Least You Fall

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 1 Cor. 10:12

I thought of the scripture recently because God was showing me that when you think you are doing well in life, it’s like plop you are on your face again spiritually.  Pride comes before a fall.   God is changing us from glory to glory.  It’s a daily process: “Give us this day our daily bread.”   It’s daily humbling ourselves to ask God for his strength in our lives.  The scriptures below talks about going from glory to glory.  Many times I’ve had a discussion with the Lord that now He is my husband since mine was taken home early.  It left me in a frenzy many times, but I’ve learned that I can depend on God to be the strength of my life.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Cor. 4:7
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Cor. 3:18

It’s trading our sorrows for God’s joy.  My strength’s disintegrated like a ray gun disintegrates when she faced a trial that was too big for her and “knocked the wind out of her.”  It’s God’s strength I am putting on in life and God’s power, like Samson had.  I’m counting on God’s strength even more to get me through the winter seasons in life. Besides going from glory to glory we are going from strength to strength.

They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. Psalm 84:7
The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Psalm 28:8
The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. Habakkuk 3:19
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1

My father was given six months to live with pancreatic cancer.  He had a strong will and lived for l-l/2 years.  I saw it shrink him down to skin and bones and strip his manhood lying in bed in a nursing home.  He was a stubborn man when it came to accepting Jesus Christ in his life.  The Bible talks about loving God with all your strength.

He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Luke 10:27

God made us with a free will.  It’s a choice we have to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways or to trust in our own ability/strength in life.

in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6

My choice is to live my life through God’s strength.

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Cor. 12:9

I’m Trading my Sorrow by Darrell Evans

I'm trading my sorrow
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord
And we say yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord Amen

I'm pressed but not crushed persecuted not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I'm blessed beyond the curse for his promise will endure
And his joy's gonna be my strength
Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning
