The Ultimate Job Interview is Before the Throne of God – I've Got a Seat on God's Easy Chair Next To It


For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.  2 Cor. 5:10
You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:10 & 12

The Ultimate Job Interview is Before the Throne of God

I have worked for a number of highly educated managers, i.e. around four years for attorneys, nine years for physicians including surgeons, and the last 15 years for educators.  I know many people lead sheltered lives and don’t have the type of contact that I have with so many students and faculty every day working for a university and at one time with several residents at a large city hospital.    When faculty or residents would come and interview to work at places of employment, I had a chance to talk to them and tour them around the city.   It gave me a chance to find out about their city and their life.   I know many professors that have several credentials, research and publications.  They have made an impressive name for themselves.  We spend a lot of money, time and energy educating our minds to make a reputation and to make money on earth.  How much time, money and energy do we spend on nourishing our spirit man?   We try to impress the president of the university, but how about the president of the universe?   

Both my father and my husband spent many hours at their job providing for their family.  I’ve spent a lot of time at work and in college education, but I recognize there are things that are going to be lasting and some things in my life that will not be everlasting.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"  Matthew 4:4
Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." John 6:27 
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, Romans 14:17

Standing before God will be the ultimate job interview.  What have you done with your life on earth, Joe, Billy, Chris, Mary, Scott, Alan, Lisa, Betty?   We can’t say we did not have a manual for life we have the Bible that men wrote inspired by God.   My understanding is that our life will be flashed before us.  God must have an elaborate life movie recording device.  Quite a collection of movies of each of us through the years.  A larger collection than Hollywood’s dailies.   Jesus said we will give account of every careless word we have spoken.

But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. Matthew 12:36

I know someone who is interviewing for a six figure sales job with great benefits.  It has taken five interviews, flying into main headquarters, problem solving scenarios, several people at one time and a background check.  It’s like working for Donald Trump.  How do you get the job? By proving you are the best person he can hire.  Sometimes to get a job you have to do an internship.  What will be our job evaluation in heaven?  Have we gone beyond what God asks us to do? 

When I stand before Jesus it will be more than I can imagine.  But the eternal life in my heart has started now.  God is able to do above what I can figure out in my brain here on earth, but because I've got the mind of Christ, God can reveal them to me!

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, Ephesians 3:20
For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor. 2:16

I’ve only had a taste of God’s glory.  God blessed me in a Christian marriage and the goodness I experienced in that marriage was only a small taste of a more eternal weight of glory.  God meant for us to experience His love, first through our parents, and than through a loving husband/wife relationship.  Many people’s image of God was distorted by an overbearing father and then in a bad relationship with a spouse.  Their image of God is warped.  I’m sad that many people never experienced that joy and love through their dad, mother, step-dad, step-mom, or a loving husband/wife.   They may go to the grave never experiencing the joy of having a good relationship with the opposite sex, but they don’t have to gamble with their eternal soul.  They don't have to let the issues they had with people on earth effect their eternal destiny.  

When my husband had a heart attack, I experienced perfect peace during the crisis.  It was beyond my natural reasoning of the trauma of the events.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philip 4:7

Luckily, we had no issues as a couple when he left.  I was upset that my husband gambled with his health.  He ate junk food and I complained about him eating ice cream every night.  For a whole week he had tightness of the chest symptoms he blamed on asthma and and he did not go back to the doctor and get checked out.  In the Bible, God sent the prophet Isaiah to Hezekiah to warn Hezekiah that he was going to die to set his house in order.  My husband had plenty of symptoms of warning, he did not need a prophet.  Not many widows I talk to their husband had that many symptoms.  He failed to see the writing on the wall of doomsday.  He constantly gambled with his body and it cost him his life. 

Many people are gambling with their souls.  They fail to see that doomsday is coming. Too many people are playing the lottery with their soul.  They are counting on that they can live their life outside of believing in God and that there is no eternity.  That is too big a chance to take in life.  I asked God if he was real to show me if he was real.  I was 16 years old at the time.  He led me to read a Bible.  The book of John.  I have found when I take one step towards God he takes two steps toward me.  Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you. A few months later on my 17th birthday God lead a Christian to witness to me to accept Jesus into my life.   He happened to be a fellow guy friend who did drugs with me, but had given his heart to God.

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8

We are to lay up our treasures in heaven.  The Egyptians had their treasures buried in a tomb with them, but we can go in and raid those tombs now.  We know that they could not take anything with them.  The only thing we can take with us to heaven is relationships and what we have said and done on the earth.

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:20-21

What I have gone through every married couple will go through unless their life ends together like the movie, The Notebook and then the husband kept having to deal with his wife’s Alzheimer’s in old age.  My sister’s husband had Alzheimer’s and he got very hostile before he passed away.  Their relationship went sour and he moved out and later passed away.  

It’s every person’s mortality.  There is nothing the enemy can throw against me now, but my own mortality, which when I’m gone I won’t care anyway.  It’s like those credit card companies that called me up and said “We are going to turn your husband’s account over to collections.”  I told them he won’t care about his credit score now that he has left planet earth.  We don’t have any worries when we leave earth.

Well folks, I have left the planet spiritually.  My treasures and kingdom are in heaven.   My worries are all on Jesus.  Dead people don’t care about this life.  I’m dead and buried with Christ. It’s no longer I that live, but Christ lives inside of me.  The life I’m living in the flesh, I live by the faith of the son of God.  

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.  Romans 6:4
having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. Colossians 2:12
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

I do have one concern that I believe is God's concern.  My concern is that I’m not doing enough to introduce people to my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus like I introduced people to our city and downtown university.  The thought of anyone perishing when they leave earth is on my heart continually and I don’t want their blood crying out against me when I’m at God’s throne.

When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. Ezekiel 3:18

Are we scrapping the bottom of the barrell for God’s kingdom?

"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.  Corinthians 9:6-7 

What is wrong with some Christian church people today?  Too cold. What is cold?  Being indifferent.  Indifferent to people’s needs or wrapped up into one’s own world.   God wants me to be aware of what is going on as far as their turmoil.  We are to have a dynamic prayer life.

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, Matthew 24:12

I've Got a Seat on God's Easy Chair in Heaven

I like the song, “Sitting on an Easy Chair Sipping Lemonade in Heaven.”  A friend said she does not see me on an easy chair in heaven sipping lemonade.  Maybe I’ll be leading the alien adventures to other planets since I’m a Science Fiction geek.   I always like that one quote at the end of an adventure and battle in Star Trek by Commander William T. Riker when he says to Captain Picard, “It’s been an honor serving with you Captain.”  When I see my husband in heaven the first thing I’m going to say to him when I see him at the gates of heaven is: “It was an honor serving with you.”  He was the captain of our ship.  

I can settle for a gold ring in marriage and not a fancy one as long as my marriage does not become cheap like the ring.  It is something that I’ve noticed.   My dad made me work for my first car.  When I paid off the car with my own money, I had already made Zebra seat covers for the car and I kept good care of the car.  I’ve just noticed that we tend to appreciate something when we work for it.  We take better care of it.  Same way with a relationship.  Put forth some effort for a relationship.  Like putting forth effort to get your first car, first house, a good job, an education.  I find when people don’t invest blood, sweat and tears in something and it’s handed to them on a silver platter they tend to not take it for granted.  It’s called trust fund children in Los Angeles.  Those spoiled sons who inherited a father's trust fund.

Jesus paid the full price for us what will it cost us as a Christian?  Do we walk all over God and take advantage of his good nature?  Do we take the Bible, church and the gift of eternal life he sent Jesus Christ for granted?  Are we walking around not sharing our trust fund with the lost?

A marriage or relationship where you put more time and energy like Jacob worked for Rachel for fourteen years, that marriage is going to mean more to you.  I screened and dated 26 men to meet my husband through a single’s ad.  I put effort in meeting my husband and I appreciated him.  It seems if we work harder for a job, a car or a relationship, we appreciate things and people more.  When things are handed to us on a silver platter we tend to take those things for granted. 

It is not going to be an all-easy Christian walk.  I believe God is raising up an army.  I’m a firm believer in grace, but I’m also a firm believer that faith without works (action) is dead.   

Faith gets God’s attention.   As Christians we are believers.  Everyone of us has been given a measure of faith what many Christian do is fail to act on the word.  I find when I start obeying the Lord in little ways, just stepping out to share God’s word, the word of God becomes more real in my life.  

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. Vs. 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:18
tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:8

Life for me has been a series of battles and like my Trig professor said, that if you don’t have the will to win in the class you won’t win.  You can defeat yourself in life and you can defeat yourself in a class before you even start because you know the battle is a fierce one.  That battles fluctuates where I come to a place of rest which is back sitting on the easy chair.  The Bible says we strive to enter into the rest.   I strive and now I’m back resting again.  When I’m resting and people tell me it’s going to be okay, I could care less what anyone says to me, because I’m sitting on the easy chair right now.  I just fought several battles during the Christmas holidays.  When I’m resting, it could come “hell or high water” while I’m on the easy chair, but I don’t care.  I’ll just watch it all float by me on the easy chair.

Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. Hebrews 4:11

Why is it that God does not allow me to stay on the easy chair for long?....it’s so comfortable sitting here.  LOL  One reason I believe is my prayer life gets rather lazy.  Being faithful in prayer for your friends and your family, because you are going to need a good prayer life to overcome trouble in the flesh with your mate.  Put it this way--- being successfully married to a Christian developed my prayer life because undoubtedly there are times that you are not going to see eye to eye.   When Job prayed for his friends, his captivity was changed.  Make a goal to increase your prayer life.  I like the Joyce Meyer saying, “Go to the throne, not the phone.”  

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.  Luke 18:1
After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job 42:10

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:12

The song I’ve posted below when it talks about ruling and reigning with Christ – what are we to rule and reign over?  We are to rule and reign over our circumstances.  We don’t rule and reign over other people’s wills.  Notice the scripture says “seated” – I told you I’m sitting on God’s easy chair!

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,  Ephesians 2:6
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philip 4:11
