"The term teenybopper was invented by marketing professionals and psychologists, later becoming a subculture of its own. The term describes a young teenager, particularly a girl, who follows adolescent trends in music, fashion and culture. The term was introduced in the 1950s to refer to teenagers who mainly listened to pop music and/or rock and roll and not much else. "Teenybopper" became widely used again in the late 1960s and early 1970s, following an increase in the marketing of pop music, teen idols and fashions aimed specifically at younger girls, down to 13 years."
Yoda: “A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind……let’s keep the deepest commitment, but let’s definitely throw out the serious mind
……A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Proverbs 17:22
……A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Proverbs 17:22
Can we say saps a person’s strength as in Batman and Robin’s fight scenes: Kapow 50 times, Pow 49 times, Boff 43 times, Zap 42 times. I always loved that quote by the Joker in the Batman movie where he says, “This town needs an enema"…many Christians need an enema. They are way too stuffy.
A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. Proverbs 15:13
Some Christian singles come out of the teenybopper bar scene, and then drift from single’s social to single’s social. When I became a Christian at 17 years old, I had great mentors that helped me learn street evangelism. I was active in street evangelism from the time I was 18 years old until 28 years old. I was married at 21 years old and totally avoided any of the bar scene…any Christian single social group, until after a divorce. I spent my entire young Christian single life (4-l/2 years) in going out on the streets in soul winning or house to house evangelism, and then nine years of married life consumed with service to God. Whenever I get together with my best girlfriends, it’s usually to sit down for a cup of coffee at their house, and we talk about the Bible. I was a teetotaler most of my life.
Teetotaler: person who refrains from drinking intoxicating beverages
When I was a little girl, I had a tea set that my mother bought me, and I played with my dolls and my stuffed animals were drinking tea in a tea party. Of course I did not fill up my doll’s tea cups pretending there were shots of alcohol and dance on the table to “I’m Too Sexy For My Car.”
I had idols growing up like the Beatles and the Monkees and played my sister’s 45 RPM records Teenie Weenie Polka Dot Bikini and Pink Shoe Laces by Dodie Stevens. My parents hated the Beatles with their long hair and refused to take me to see them play at the State Fair in Indiana. My brother was five years older, and he attended with the neighbor boy. I guess you could not hear them play, but I would have appreciated the excitement of attending the event. Who cares if I heard them play and sing?

When my youngest daughter was 13-years old (now 21 years old) I paid for two $75.00 tickets for her birthday to go see Justin Timberlake with N Sync when they were popular. Her sister in college took her. I wanted my daughter to see her teen idol. Many parents took their teenybopper children to that concert. It’s because I did not want to be like my parents where there was a huge generation gap. My parents listened to Lawrence Welk. My parents would never come down to my level.
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11
My husband bought two wave runners when our children were teens, because he wanted to spend more time with his children. He was trying to be “cool.” When my mother was widowed, I invited her to a women’s tea at church, and I attended a Christmas musical with her. I never asked my mother to relate to my level, but I came down to my mother’s level to make her feel comfortable to spend time with her. My mother did relate to me one day when she heard a woman talk on the radio about how hard it was to get two children ready and work a full-time job. My mother realized that she had been a full-time house wife, and I had four little ones to get ready every morning, and go to work full-time as a single parent in a season in my life. My mother was being more understanding of what I was going through at that time even though she never experienced it herself.
One of my daughters attended Indiana University, and she wanted me to hang out during her graduation week at a Sport’s Bar. She griped that I only came out with my husband one night with her. I was bored out of my gourd --- was glad that at 2:00 a.m. we could at least order chicken wings sitting at a table, but there was not even a place to dance. I love dancing. The college students walked around and around all night through the bar and just looked at each other, but I was trying to relate to my daughter on her level. I came down to my daughter’s level, like I came down to my mother’s level, my husband bought jet skis to be cool with his teen children, because we were trying to spend time with our loved ones.
I was thinking how much God loves us, like I was trying to relate to my daughter, and my mother in that Jesus became a man for us. To me it's not about going to a bunch of socials or Bible study meetings, its about who will come "hang out with me." I believe God is like that also. He wants us to hang out with him...not just accept him in our heart, and then forget about him the rest of our lives. In Genesis, God walked and talked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8
When I went to a single's retreat, I was not comfortable, because there were many singles never married with no children, and we did not have a lot in common. What we did have in common was loving Jesus and serving Jesus, and wanting to have fun. I go out of my way many times for my friends to spend time with them and sometime you find a person who will do the same for you and other times if the relationship becomes one-sided you go your separate ways. I found a husband who was willing to go out of his way for me.
People accused Jesus of hanging out with trash…publicans and sinners:
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Luke 7:34
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners."' But wisdom is proved right by her actions." Matthew 11:19
When I was younger in a full time Christian tent revival ministry, I used to go into clubs, order a coke, and witness to people about Jesus with my Bible. Because I went into the clubs, people were more comfortable in talking to me and one woman followed me back to look at the Christian tent revival ministry I was in to see what we were doing (see if I was sincere). When we love people and be ourselves it is so much easier to lead people to the Lord than beating them over the head. More and more Christian musicians are going into secular places to be a witness and play music and I have friends who play in secular bands I like to go hear. More Christians are getting involved in secular meetup.com groups. It’s a great opportunity to rub elbows with non-Christians. Before my husband was deceased, I organized bowling clubs and leagues for students and faculty at the university where I work. Some of my daughter's girlfriend's parents were concerned about letting their daughter go with us to the bowling alley, because many bowlers drink and smoke. I told her that not all bowlers drink and smoke, and if I wanted to hang out with people who drink and smoke, maybe it's because that is what Jesus would do if he was here! He never told us to leave the world...exclude ourselves....but to keep ourselves unspotted from it.

I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people--not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 1 Cor. 5:10
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27
When Jesus asked Peter if he loved him more than fish, what was he really asking Peter? Peter will you hang out with me? If you love someone you want to hang out with them. I fellowship with Jesus when I go into the prison ministry. I fellowship with Jesus when I help the homeless. I fellowship with Jesus when I support a missionary with my offerings to go to Haiti and bring the gospel of good tidings. I’m fellowshipping Jesus when I support ministries that bring water purification systems to other countries. I fellowship with Jesus when I read my Bible, worship, pray and go to church.

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward." Mathew 10:4
I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:36-40
I quit being a teetotaler when I turned 35 years old. It's mainly because of who I associated with in their belief that you could not drink any alcohol. Most of the churches I attended were legalistic against social drinking. I believe God wants me to practice moderation. If I am not in moderation, than I step out of the bounds of what He wants me to do, and I offend my conscience. I find moderation includes many things in life as far as what I eat, what I buy, watching television, too many movies, too much sports, too much of anything in life that can become a distraction. There was a time in my life that I gave up secular music, because I worshipped it too much. I had three fender bender car accidents when I was 18 years old one summer, and I was under conviction that it was from my idol worship of rock-n-roll music. I gave up listening to it during a period of my life.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord [is] at hand. Philip 4:5
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Titus 2:3
I’ve tried the best that the world has to offer me which is alchohol and drugs, and it’s so much less than the joy that comes from God.
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
After I became a Christian, the Lord filled me with his Holy Spirit three months later, and I experienced a joy that came up inside of me. I laughed for three hours straight. I had never laughed that long in my life. Before I became a Christian, I liked getting stoned on marijuana, because at the time I thought that was the greatest high, and it made me laugh. The dynamite (dynamous) power of God came into my life, and it caused a supernatural joy to fill me. God’s power inside helped me kick the habit of smoking cigarettes and smoking marijuana. The Holy Spirit is my guide, my comforter, my helper and He leads me into all truth. As my helper, He helped me get free from addictions. I never was addicted to alchohol, but I was psychologically addicted to marijuana in believing I needed it to enjoy my life. The recent addiction I kicked was soda pop. I had that addiction since I was a small child. I know the Holy Spirit helped me overcome the habit and I broke it in three days. I was addicted mostly to drinking at least one Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper a day. Now I've not had either in over three years. Once I gave up that addiction, I immediately lost 15 lbs. from cutting out the sugar. I feel more healthier since I don't drink soda pop anymore. Eating healthy eventually caused me to lose 30 lbs. with no exercise.

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Proverbs 20:1
