Christian Jedi Knights Come to the Light
Yoda said that a Jedi Knight must not give into the dark side. Jesus said He is the light of the world:
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." John 3:20-21
Christian Jedi Knights Are Like The Little Engine That Could
I still appreciate this story I heard as a child:
The Little Engine That Could, "I think I can," puffed the little locomotive, and put itself in front of the great heavy train. As it went on the little engine kept bravely puffing faster and faster, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can."As it neared the top of the grade, which had so discouraged the larger engines, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I--think--I--can, I--think--I--can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could, I thought I could."
I’ve spoken on the phone to some Christian men who have lost hope. This week, I was talking to a Christian man from the PlentyofFish.com dating website who lost his wife, remarried too soon and was divorced. I was talking to him as a potential serious partner, and he was telling me at the very beginning of the conversation that he did not believe he could meet a person that would match his ideals. I’m not sure why he was on the dating site? He already had faith that no relationship was ever going to work out. His ship was sinking before it left the dock to go sailing.
Is that what Jesus was trying to convey when he fell asleep in the boat when the strong tempest happened? Have a little faith in God? Jesus said they were going to the other side. When Peter walked on the water he looked at the waves and wind. The waves and the wind had nothing to do with Peter walking on the water. He was walking on the water because Jesus bade him to come.
Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:28-31
Our phone conversation went flat as soon as he spoke negative words. I’ve spoken to several divorced men like that on the telephone, who have no faith for a good relationship. I am divorced, because my husband had no faith in going to marriage counseling. I was with my husband who passed away in a successful relationship, because he said “over and over” during the entire marriage, “I know God put us together, I know that we can make it.” My husband was like the Little Engine That Could. We stayed together in difficult times, because he had faith. What did Jesus say about a little faith? Little faith can move mountains. A woman wants to hear like God, "We can take the promise land of our relationship." We both had previous marriage failures and tried everything we knew to make those former marriages work. We depended on God in our lives to make it work. My husband gave credit to God for bringing us together. That is the type of person I seek that is depending on God's ability (grace) to take the promise land.
And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:7-8
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20
The song, “I am a Believer” came to my mind by the Monkees after I was talking to him on the phone, and the scripture, "We live by faith, not by sight." 2 Cor. 5:7. I emailed the man and gave him the song by the Monkees and the scripture above, and told him it was nice talking to him and wished him the best. It’s the same experience I had when I met a widower who said that he never got past the first date, because women found him boring. Once he said that to me, I found him boring. Seeds are the words we plant in other people’s mind that take root and grow, and then we can’t get them out of that person’s minds. First impressions are very important. My first impression of my husband was that he smiled all the time, and was very happy and positive. I’ve gone to single groups where people are negative, whiny, act like they are a victim, knock their ex-spouse…what type of first impression is that? Like a job interview, you need to be putting your best foot forward when you are in public. Jesus only had an inner core of three disciples (James, Peter and John) where he let them know everything. The other twelve knew more than many, but the inner core of three got in on the transformation experience.
So what is the answer? God wants us to give Him something to work with. Like the little boy who gave Him five loaves and two fish, what can I give God to work with?
I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Mark 11:2
Christian Jedi Knights Come Boldly to the Throne
The Jedi Knights were protectors of the good people on the throne. In my last blog, I discussed how my husband and I did things to hang out with our children and how God wanted to hang out and walk and talk with Adam and Eve. After they sinned, they hid from God. In the Old Testament we see that there was a constant sacrifice for sin and constant reminder that blood had to be slain to cover sin. A priest who was called of God would go into the Holy of Holies to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat.
He will take some of the bull's blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the throne of mercy. Then he will sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times in front of the throne of mercy. Lev. 16:14
The Lord said to Moses, "Warn your brother, Aaron, not to enter the Most Holy Place behind the inner curtain whenever he chooses; if he does, he will die. For the Ark's cover--the place of atonement--is there, and I myself am present in the cloud above the atonement cover. Lev. 16:2
When Jesus died it says the veil of the temple was rent from top to bottom. The veil was several inches thick. The spirit of God left the temple, and now He can live in our hearts. We are to come boldly to God's throne of grace to receive mercy and grace to help us in our time of need through prayer and petition. ITS A THRONE OF GRACE! Our confidence is not in the works we have done through our fleshly bodies, but in what Jesus did. We are now priests unto God, who make intercession for others and we receive the help we need.
The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 14:38
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Jesus was the lamb of God that took away the sins of the world:
God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished. Roman 3:25
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. Ephesians 1:7
but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 1 Peter 1:19
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2
I believe God allows suffering and trials many times in our lives to show us where our heart is at. Are we still going to serve God when the chips are down? How much time do we spend in God’s presence just loving on God and telling Him that we love Him or do we only pray when we want something? Are we sitting at the feet of Jesus and ministering to Him?
I like to lay right next to the heart of my heavenly father…which is evangelism….I find if I live next to God’s heartbeat it’s the best place to live in life. It seems when I get my eyes on myself and selfishness…that is when I’m not lying next to the heart of my heavenly father. It’s the only place I want to live right next is hearing God’s heartbeat. I’ve thought about that scripture all weekend when David said “the Lord is my shield and take the shield of faith.” The shield of faith protects the heart. I want my heart on the same beat as God’s heart in life. Woman was taken out of man’s rib so he would protect her and she would be next to his heart. The same way with my heavenly Father.
I believe that God has called me to be a priest for my family, my friends, the people I work with at my job, my side of town, my city, my nation, and the world.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
The Words I Would Say – Sidewalk Prophets
Three in the morning,
And I'm still awake,
So I picked up a pen and a page,
And I started writing,
Just what I'd say,
If we were face to face,
I'd tell you just what you mean to me,
I'd tell you these simple truths,
Be strong in the lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
Gods got his hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why your here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,
Last time we spoke,
You said you were hurting,
And I felt your pain in my heart,
I want to tell you,
That I keep on praying,
Love will find you where you are,
I know cause I've already been there,
So please hear these simple truths,
Be strong in the lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
Gods got his hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why your here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,
From one simple life to another,
I will say,
Come find peace in the father,
Be strong in the lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
Gods got his hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why your here,
Take your time and pray,
Thank God for each day,
His love will find a way,
These are the words I would say
