I have prayed for two countries all my Christian walk. Those two countries are India and Russia. It's because of this scripture: (Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. Psalm 2:8). I'm claiming those two countries for a revival.
We can let our vision be small in life or we can have our vision be large (without a vision the people perish (without God's word people cast off restraint) Proverbs 29:18). Everyone needs to pray for God's vision/will in their life. Jesus prayed, "Not my will, but thine be done."
I had a dream one year after my husband passed away that I was going up a windy mountain and my mother who is deceased was driving, she drove my SUV over a break in the road, and I dreamed I died and I was floating towards a heavenly peace and love and then out of the blue I prayed "not my will but thine be done" in my dream. I then stop floating towards heaven, and came back to earth and I was in a lodge full of people.
The very first thing the Lord dealt with me in becoming a Christian at 17 years old was to give up my boyfriend I was engaged to. He was 19 years old and I was carrying his child, but he was an unbeliever. I dreamed it was the end of the world and stars were falling from the sky and there were these giant prehistoric birds that were swallowing up people. I was yelling at my boyfriend that he needed to come to the Lord and then I dreamed a giant bird swallowed me up and then I was in school. I had a dream and it was in Technicolor. It was like watching a movie, and I’ve never had a dream in my life like that in color. Some friends were laughing at me when I was telling them about it at breakfast recently when I said I ended up back in school. It was no laughing matter. I remember thinking that my ex-boyfriend (my son’s father) may never give his life to the Lord, because of that dream. I’m not sure why I ended up back in school except I was still in high school at the time and I was in God’s school (learning from him.)
I broke up with him right after that dream, and around two years later the Lord laid on my heart to fast a whole day (food) and pray for him and then later I found out he became a Christian around the same time I fasted and prayed for him. I ended up running into him at church and he was married and his wife just had a new baby. I’ve seen a lot of power in fasting and prayer. Jesus was coming off a fast when he was lead into the wilderness and Moses fasted 40 days and nights. I would recommend a short fast to seek God’s face and a greater power in your life in prayer and in the word of God.
I was standing in the gap through prayer and fasting for my ex-boyfriend’s salvation. I can understand why the Lord did not call us together, because like Whitney Houston his soul never broke free from his demons of addiction of alcohol and drugs in his life, but went back into them. I did not have much faith that he would get saved. It was because I was too close or too familiar with my ex-boyfriend’s problems to believe God that he could be saved. I was too familiar with his hard-luck story. God can change anyone, and we can trust Him to work in their lives (even rebellious teenagers). I was a rebellious teenager that God changed.
· People with those type of chains like Whitney Houston need a lot of prayer support and deliverance that this natural world may not be able to heal. I look at healing that it can come through doctors, but Jesus Christ is the still the same yesterday, today and forever and he still can free people from their addictions. Fasting and prayer is one supernatural power that many Christians have not tapped in to. Jesus said when he left that his disciples would fast. When Moses fasted he saw the glory of God. (Mark 2:20)
Without faith it's impossible to please God. Part of that faith besides believing that God exists is that he rewards those who diligently seek him (And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6)
There are certain rewards that I can go and seek in life or I can seek first the kingdom of God. Elvis Presley said his goals in life were to be rich and famous and to be happy. He never got the happy part. It says that "blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled or satisfied." (Matt 5:6). I heard a minister compare it to you want the whole cake not just a slice of the cake. I want all of God not just a slice of the cake or pie. Or I like the expensive ice cream that only one scoop fills me up compared to Kroger ice cream that I have to have a whole bowl. I can run after the things of this world like Elvis Presley and have all the women, drugs, and booze I want and still not be happy, because there is no quality to my life.
Every man has been dealt a measure of faith (Romans 12:3). I believe even unbelievers have faith. They have faith that they are going to succeed in life (accomplish their goals), do well on a college test, find a love, etc. I spoke to a woman who said that every time she gets pregnant her husband lost her job. She was having faith in bad things happening and that is what happened to them. Job said, "The very thing I feared came upon me." What I encourage people if they have any fear like flying across seas to India that your plane is going to crash is to just say, "God I give you my fear of a plane crashing." The Lord showed me I could jump that 436 foot bungy jump (the highest in the world) because (1) I first conquered the fear when I was five years old in diving off the high dive (2) I always said that I wanted to bungy jump.
I look at what comes out of a person's mouth as a thermometer. If they say they only want friends in dating than they will keep a person in the friend's category. If a man wants to "play" around at my age and not play for keeps than he is not my type, not the marrying type. When I met my husband what came out of his mouth was, "I'm ready to get married, I'm happy with my job, I am willing to make time for another person in my life." I'm looking for a person who knows what he wants and goes for it. I've met a handful of people like that since I've been widowed.
There is a reason that although Jesus called us friends and Abraham was a friend of God, we don’t get so “buddy buddy” with God that it comes to the place like humans where we start farting in front of each other and not say, "Excuse me." We become so familiar to the point that we start losing respect for one another. We look at Jesus home town and because of familiarity Jesus could only heal a few sick folk. That was more power of God than we see in the church today as far as at least the sick folk were getting healed. Jesus home town folks stopped the power of God. (Mark 6:5)
They had low expectations of “Joseph, the carpenter’s son.” Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Can anything good come out of Indiana? We can have low expectations of God’s power or ability to move and change our lives. The lame man was expecting to receive money who was begging for alms, but instead he received healing. Maybe we are expecting to receive more money in life, but we need a touch of healing in our body?
The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Acts 3:5-6
We short-circuit God’s supernatural power and that is not trusting and believing in God’s word. “Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.” There is no sickness and disease in heaven. There is no poverty or lack. Jesus asked when he returned is he going to find faith on the earth? I believe this is for a reason. I believe because in many ways we can depart from faith in our lives and having a faith walk with God and rely on sense knowledge and experience.
I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:8
The Lord told me there is a famine in the land and I believe the famine is related to the supernatural power of God. We don’t hear much about God’s healing power or see the type of miracles that the early churched walked in. Many churches no longer have a prayer line for healing. Miracles require faith and faith comes by hearing the word of God. God’s people are filled with sickness and disease. We are not being taught or preached about the miracle-power of God. Many people act like miracles were only for the New Testament Church. We don’t have miracles because that is our “expectation.” If you expect nothing guess what you usually get….nothing.
Nothing comes from nothing. Something comes from something. Evolution would lead you to believe that the whole universe, including that everyone's unique DNA came from nothing, not intelligent design. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things never seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
Now abideth, faith, hope (expectation) and love. (So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor. 13:3)
Since I’ve been widowed that is what the enemy fights me is to make sure I get nothing and that I quit expecting to receive anything from God and I’m condemned to a life of believing and anticipating nothing from anyone, any place or anything. Guess what? I find that people are good about meeting my expectation for doing nothing. Another one is those who are good for nothing….LOL
· One widow told me that if anyone on the face of the planet ever did a kind deed that she would be pleasantly pleased so I am not the only one who has this experience.
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. Psalm 62:5
That is the enemy! Lot’s wife looked back at her life in Sodom and Gomorrah because she had no faith that God could bring her into a better land. The children of Israel griped and complained about eating melons and forgot about their taskmasters, because all they could see was their current situation in the wilderness. When I get up in the morning, I thank God, “Lord you meet my needs, not according to this world’s economy. Not according to what I see, not according to my husband any more, but according to your riches in glory.”
For everything in life you are going to find an exception to the rule. My husband had a unique personality that only 7% of the population had that type of personality. Most women produce one egg, I produced two eggs naturally and had twins which is 1/100 occurrence in a woman. As a Christian, I’m an “exception to the rule” because I serve an exceptional God. I’m expecting exceptional things. We can rely on what we see or we can “walk by faith not by sight.” We are the people who are the “exception to the rule.” We can put our faith out to expect the impossible and exceptional things.
For we live by believing and not by seeing. 2 Cor. 5:7
For nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37
Experiences in life (history) can be good if they are from God. I have 40 years of walking with the Lord and that tells me I can trust in the Lord. If you have 40 years of chaos in your life those are not all experiences that possibly I would want to go by since experience can corrupt you. History "can be" a great lesson in life like it tells us to learn from people in the Bible. A lot of who I am today was things I learned in my 20's in being in full-time Christian ministry traveling around the United States to different churches and cities before I had a full-time job.
These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age. 1 Cor. 10:11
The printed word of God is the logos. The Rhema of God is the voice of God that speaks to us when we hear the word of God. You can have the word of God and dry up, you can have just the spirit of God and blow up, or you can have both and grow up into the fullness of Christ. I know a lot of Christians that have a great head knowledge of the word of God, but they don't walk in love. It says that knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies. They don't apply the word of God to their lives. They don't act or obey God's word. It says that the flesh profits nothing it's the spirit that gives life.
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. John 6:63
Part of faith is abiding and acting (obeying) God’s word. His written word and the voice of our inner spirit from God.
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! John 15:7
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. John 8:31
Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. John 14:23-24
If you love me, you will obey what I command. John 14:15
The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center during 9/11 shook our nation economy up. We are going to see this world shook some more.
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the Lord Almighty, in the day of his burning anger. Isaiah 13:3
(Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord? Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to lose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:5-8)
I like this song below, but it's not about my goodness, it's the goodness of Jesus Christ I'm expecting (I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13)
