I am a Teenage Werewolf or Vampire?

I like to think of myself as blood vessels in the Body of Christ that carries the message of the blood to the brain and the heart. I like to circulate around through different ministries like singles, prisons, nursing homes, street ministries and recently the widow's ministry.

I went to a more traditional church growing up as a child with my parents and some members of the congregation wanted to take the blood of Jesus out of the hymnals, because it was too gory. At the time, the movie theatres had Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and all kinds of gory/bloody movies, not to mention all the Werewolf and Vampire type movies that were popular for teens. Even Michael J. Fox came out with a movie “Teen Wolf.” We had the Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the television show Angel, a vampire tormented by possessing a human soul. Most of us like Michael Jackson’s song, “Thriller” to dance to. Our television and Hollywood is full of blood and gore with CSI and Criminal Minds and other crime shows and yet how many times do you hear churches sing about the blood of Jesus? We have current movies like Twilight and Hunger Games.

The blood of Jesus is our redemption and part of our sanctification and I like to think about it whenever I have thoughts that are fear and not of faith in my life over my mind and thank God for the wonderful blood that cleanses me currently of my sin on a daily basis and keeps me in this wonderful fellowship with God through Jesus Christ my Lord. It’s the blood that never loses it’s power and it’s the blood that keeps me walking in fellowship with God on a daily basis.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:2

I believe there is an evil entity that wants to downplay the power of Jesus blood. When Jesus said “It is finished.” He had paid the ultimate sacrifice by his blood. He was our substitute lamb.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. Rev. 13:8

I realize that many people in Indiana live very sheltered lives, but I’ve seen some disturbing things in life. I traveled around nine years in street ministry and if you start dealing with people on the streets, in prisons, in the occult, in voodoo, you are either going to run into people mildly oppressed or you will run into some people full-blown taken over by evil. David and Paul prayed, “God deliver me from wicked and evil men.” (Psalm 71:4, 59:2, 140:1-5). Many women are in prison for killing their children.

Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. Gal. 1:4

I remember in my early 20’s babysitting for someone I met in our neighborhood and I believe her baby had “shaken baby syndrome” from her boyfriend. There was just something wrong with the newborn and I could tell it when I was watching her child and I would pray for the baby often.

I agree with this series on Sex, Love and Dating that sex is more than physical because there have been many I know that have been victims of sexual abuse in their past, and that can come back and haunt a person. In losing three members to cancer (watching them go down hill) and my husband to a sudden heart attack, I go through attacks in my thought life on a continual basis.

When I first became a Christian, I had a dream that an evil man dressed in a black cape was coming at me and I said “the blood of Jesus" three times and he finally left. I remember in my dream, I was paralyzed in fear. I’m not sure why it took three times except three seems to be God’s number. (Paul sought the Lord three times for the thorn to depart from his flesh, Jonah was in the belly of the whale as Jesus resurrection was on the third day, Peter had a vision three times of eating unclean meat, Jesus asked if the cup of suffering of going to the cross could depart from him three times, and Jesus had three temptations of the devil.) If it takes three times in appropriation of God’s word in life, than I will do it three times as far as controlling negative thoughts.

In the Old Testament, the Jews were constantly sacrificing and there was a continual reminder of sin every year because the blood of goats and bulls could not make the attonement from the guilt of sins on a permanent basis.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. Ephesians 1:17
God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished Romans 3:25
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. Hebrew 4:14
For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17
