One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples...." Luke 11:1
If you get married, have children, walk as Jesus disciple, you are going to learn to pray. I’ve heard that there are no atheist in fox holes so being in war will teach you to pray. We are in a spiritual warfare in life. David said that God taught him to go to battle. (Of David. Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. Psalm 144:1)
There is the warfare of prayer. Daniel proved there is a warfare of prayer because it took him 21 days to get his prayer request through. (Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. Daniel 10:12)
My husband and I prayed on a regular basis together. Walking in unity will not “hinder” our prayers and two it says puts 10,000 to flight. There is strength in a married couple who prays together. (Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7
How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? Duet 32:30)
I am careful now when someone will tell me their fear to pray. I had a person tell me that they believed they were going to lose their job. I wish I would have bound the enemy right then, because they did lose their job. Everyone knows the best football team has a great offense, not just a defense (it takes both) to win in football. ("Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19)
We can have a great defensive prayer life (after the fact) but it takes a great offensive prayer line. I’ve learned that I need to pray ahead of time. I pray now pretty much everywhere I go and everything I do. My friend Scott and I were praying before we went to Monroe Lake to bring my wave runners to single’s get together with a pontoon boat and out of the corner of my eye, I caught a woman who was not yielding her car and she could have ran into the back of my wave runners. I slowed down to let her go. I had the right of way. It prevented an accident. Sometimes prayer is being sensitive to other’s mistakes. I am not always sensitive to other’s mistakes in life, let alone avoid making my own mistakes in life.
I was stressing out over my children (being a mom) and I was giving that stress or care to the Lord about one of my daughters and heard this scripture:

I was stressing out over my children (being a mom) and I was giving that stress or care to the Lord about one of my daughters and heard this scripture:
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. Isaiah 59:1
The Lord was assuring me that he heard my prayer for my daughter and he will take care of the situation.
Prayer to me is like being a person’s wing man. If I was your partner in the military or your partner on a police force, a mistake can be very costly. It’s being sensitive to the voice of our spirit. I knew when I married my husband he was going to have a short life. I was surprised at the shortness of his life, but I knew ahead of time that he would die young, and my husband knew in his spirit he could have a short life also.
I had this dream when I first became a Christian that I was walking on this evil road and I starting becoming afraid. Then I heard a voice say, “Mary.” When that voice said “Mary” I knew it was Jesus, because then I felt warmth and all my fear went away. I believe the evil road is this life. When Mary went to Jesus tomb on resurrection day, she did not recognize Jesus until he spoke her name.
Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher). John 15-16
There is nothing as sweet as hearing the voice of God calling your name. (My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27)
Jesus, there is something about his name. It was Jesus, my master’s voice that calmed the winds and the waves, it was the master’s voice that raised Lazarus from the dead, and it’s the Lord’s voice I wish to hear every day of my life. There are many different voices in the world telling us to do different things. I’ve learned not to follow others advise, but listen to my own inner spirit man. I’ve had times in my life where I went against the “popular vote” and did something contrary to what everyone else told me to do. Contrary to what a counselor would tell me to do. It turned out to be the right choice. I’ve missed that quiet voice of my spirit at times. There was fire and there was a great earthquake, but when God spoke to Elijah it was the quiet voice.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 1 King 19:12.
We have to get our minds quiet to hear the voice of God’s spirit in our spirit. Then there have been times I wish I would have followed friends and a pastor’s advice. Those were the multitude of counselors in my life that brought safety at times when I should have been listening and heeding their advice.
Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers. Proverbs 11:14
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. Proverbs 15:22
Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance. Proverbs 20:18
The Bible teaches that God will turn the bad around for good. I find its obeying the voice of my spirit. It’s interesting because when my sister passed away the Lord told me to go over to her house during my lunch break which is way over in Zionsville, that was the very moment when I arrived with her children that she passed away. With my mother, my sister kept saying that she did not “feel” she was going to go, but I had a sense of urgency that she was going to go that night in the hospital. I tried to get most of my kids there and sure enough my mother passed away that evening. With my father, my mother did not think he was going to die, but I felt in my spirit he was going to go. Sure enough I was the last one who was with my dad before he passed away in the nursing home. With my husband it sort of like listening to my mother and my sister who were wrong, as far as my husband kept telling me “my heart is okay.” “I got my heart checked out when he was having indigestion problems with a monitor at the hospital during the colonoscopy and it’s okay.” I hate listening to others. His heart was not okay. He had a massive heart attack on Saturday. God showed me “once the wheels of the bus were in motion, it’s hard to stop the bus.” Catch the problem ahead of time, when you can do something about it.
My husband’s death saved a woman’s husband at work from a possible heart attack because she had him go in to the hospital for indigestion and he had a clogged heart stent. Another woman who had children and could not walk received a tissue transplant from my husband and I got a letter how she can walk now. In my own life, I can mainly think of the importance of listening to the voice of my spirit even more so now and not going by outside voices in life. We have the Holy Spirit as our comforter and our teacher.

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him. 1 John 2:27
Some events in our life can be our bad choices and then other things in life that affect us can be other people’s choices. Whenever something happens to me I ask God to show me if there is anything he wants me to learn. I believe “good gifts” come from God like the Bible talks about, but that God will take the bad and turn it around for my good, because I love him.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
I was sitting at this single’s retreat and I was rather stuck being there since I had ridden with my guy friend Evan, and there was this couple giving their testimony and I wanted to leave. I did not know the single’s seminar was going to go that way and I was the only widow among many never married and divorced there. I felt like a fish out of water. Anyway, I heard the Lord speak an encouraging word to me and he said, “Like John outran Peter to the grave, you have outran other couple’s to the grave.” The Lord did not say that to point out that other people are going to be in the grief/loss boat like me, but to point out that like Jesus was risen and not in his tomb, that my husband’s spirit is with the Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
It says that 1,000 years is like one day with the Lord and I believe in eternity that 30 years is like 3 minutes apart from our loved ones. I like to focus on the resurrection power of the Lord rather than Jesus is no longer a baby in a manger, or beaten and nailed to the cross, but he is risen and when he comes back the second time, it is more as the Jews were expecting, he will be coming on a white horse as the conqueror. For Christians, we are to lift up our heads.
I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. Rev. 6:2
When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." Luke 21:28
