Being a Good Female Solider in the Army of the Lord

(Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:3)

I recently saw that movie Zero Dark Thirty. It was quite an inspiration how the CIA woman's persistent was the main drive that lead to the capture of leader Osama bin Laden and how a woman played such an important role in our history.  But, can you imagine if you were one of the soldiers that shot and killed the evil leader? That is quite a rewarding experience, and I can think of some rewarding experiences in my life spiritually in stomping on the enemy's territory.

It makes me think of when Jesus sent his disciples out by two and they came back rejoicing that the evil spirits were subject to them, but Jesus said to count it joy that their names were written in the Lamb’s book of life. That is more important above all other things is to not have our name blotted out of God’s book. That we have accepted the sacrifice of God’s son.

However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:20

So nothing more important, but to get other people to believe in Jesus.

If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Rev. 20:15

We see the example of who one woman who had five husbands and the man that she was living with was not her husband came out in the heat of the day outside of town to avoid other women.

The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true." John 4:18

Normally, a Jewish man would not talk to a Samaritan woman, or be seen in association with such a woman. I think about that when I am “associated” with different people that I am not to concern myself with trying to hang out with socially cool and rich people, but I am to associate with the people that God puts across my path.

But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? James 2:6

This woman witnessed to her whole town to believe in Jesus. (Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything I ever did." John 4:39)

One woman’s mouth counts. One chad vote counts. One prostitute woman was saved in Jericho, one widow woman her oil and cake never ran out during famine when Elijah was with her, Ruth was in the ancestry of Jesus, God favored Mary to give birth to Jesus, women can make a different and a woman made a difference in capturing Osama bin Laden.  Woman we can lead the charge of prayer and ministry. God is “no respecter of persons.” Acts 10:34

No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs--he wants to please his commanding officer. 2 Timothy 2:4

Our feet are to be shod with the gospel of peace in a war-torn society.

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. Ephesians 6:15

A couple of thoughts....in Ephesians 6 twice it tells us to stand against the enemy and one is to take the helmet of salvation and the breastplate or righteousness and we know our righteousness is not our own, but the righteousness of Jesus Christ! It also warns us if we think we stand take heed least we fall...it's because we can't stand in our strength or our own righteousness, but it's faith in the righteousness of what Christ has done for us.

and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Philip 3:9
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 1 Cor. 10:12
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:11
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand v. 13.

I find myself many times trying to stand in my own righteousness.  I think that is what the Lord shows me at times.  Recently, I was listening to Joyce Meyer about thinking about God in the morning, but then I overslept my alarm, and was late for work, and  “Praise God” did not come out of my mouth.  What came out as far as the second words were, “God forgive me.”  The Lord reminds me I am still a woman in need of a savior.  Peter is the one who wrote, “humble ourselves under the hand of God that he may exalt us in due time” and Peter wanted to be crucified upside down, because he did not want to be right side up like Jesus.  I’ve always liked Peter and can identify with him as far as his zealousness and at times his fears.

The breastplate of righteousness is what Christ has done for us.   He put us in right-standing with God.  Not because of what we have done, but because of what Christ did for us.
