Jesus had a mission in life. His mission was to terminate the works of the devil.
He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 1 John 3:8
Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. John 12:31
Some Christians are in la la land (living in their own world). They don’t recognize the signs of the times and that the days are evil. They are playing church. When they go to church, they don’t expect the power of God to move. Church and Bible studies are a social club. Several times Jesus said over and over “those who have ears to hear.” (Matthew 11:15, 13:9)
Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Ephesians 5:16
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Col 4:5
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
“Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop, When the wind blows, the cradle will rock, When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall, And down will come baby, cradle and all.”
In the Bible it talks about opening our eyes of our understanding so we are not asleep when it comes to spiritual things.
Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death, my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall. Psalm 13:3-4
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, Ephesians 1:18
Jesus defeated Satan for us. He knew the devil had no hold on him. How many of us can say that? How many of us can say that there is nothing in our lives that we are holding back from God that Satan has no hold on us? It’s a statement I earnestly seek after God in my heart that Satan will have nothing he can take away from me because all good comes from God. I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let's be going. John 14:30
Jesus did not have any worries, he did not have any sense of lack or need, he knew he had his heavenly Father to depend on, he knew his authority. So did Paul and Peter, they knew their authority in the name of Jesus Christ.
Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Acts 3:6
I look many times to the "arm of flesh." I look to a bank, a lending institution, my job or my husband in the past to help provide my needs. Jesus talked about the ravens. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds. Luke 12:24
God commanded the ravens to feed Elijah. Apparently, God uses animals! Many question God's divine intervention in earth, but God intervened to feed his man Elijah through birds.
You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there." 1 Kings 17:4 vs. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
Satan tried to terminate Jesus' life on many occasions. He tried through Herod having all the children two and under murdered when he was at a vulnerable age, but through a dream Joseph took his family to Egypt. They tried to push him over a cliff one time. He just passed through the midst of them.
They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him down the cliff. But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way. Luke 4:29-30
Jesus laid down his life willingly. Paul knew when his earthly departure date was going to be. Sort of like catching an airplane where you know the time you are departing. They both knew their departure dates from earth.
I can’t say that about my husband. He did not die willingly. He was taken against his will. But God knew my husband’s departure date. He knew when he brought him into my life and although I’m upset that the Christmas present was defective and blew up in my face, God does not look at things the way I do. Back in the divine moment of time that my husband came in my life, God knew he was the “cream of the crop” for that season in my life. My husband passed away when my last daughter was in high school.

I had a dream about six months after my husband died that I died myself and I was floating up towards heaven. There was a lot of joy and peace and I knew if I wanted to go to heaven I could, but I prayed, “Not my will but thine be done.” In my dream I was sent back to earth and I was in a lodge full of people.
I know that has to do with what God wants me to do on the earth. Not so easy being a single Christian cold turkey from a good relationship. My daughter said that she feels that I've gotten more on track spiritually, but I went through a period of time I was dating a Christian I could have easily gratified the flesh. I can think of several occcasions where I could have a relationship out of convenience lately. I went through the same thing in my first marriage where my husband was filing a divorce and his best friend's wife left him to drinking with her work friends and he wanted to date me. I decided I did not want a relationship out of convenience. I keep running into the same situation today in meeting people I've know for years going through a divorce.
There is a higher Will that supersedes my will on this earth and that is considering God’s will in my life. I was talking to a woman today when I was getting my hair cut about many widows who pass away shortly after their husbands due to the stress on their bodies. I would hope somewhere along the path of life our will becomes God’s will, but it is a difficult transition for me, and I find my will bucks God’s will at times. Paul said that everyone looked out for their own interests.
For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ Philip 2:21

When I look back over my life, it was like a cyborg terminator was out to get me at times. I was joking that I've changed my name from Sarah Connor. I fell from a tree and landed on my back when I was five years old, almost drowned in a pool when I was four years old, slid off the road and almost hit a light pole with my car when I first became a Christian at 17 years old, and many near misses I experienced at times driving on the Interstate when a tire blew out, someone’s tire bouncing across the Interstate in front of my car, etc. My husband had made similar comments in his life that he saw the hand of God in his life even when he was not serving God on all the near accidents he had in life. What my testimony in my life I want it to be is that Satan came and he could find nothing in me. I don't want Satan finding anything of his in my life that he can come collect. It’s a daily battle giving God the thoughts of worry, fear, pride, strife, revenge, anger, jealousy, etc. I don't want to hang on to anything that Satan can come looking for in my life.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:34 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:25-26
The rich man held on to his goods. Judas held on to the money bag. Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit about money and Satan came to collect his dues. It’s called “paying the piper.”
"To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.' Matthew 11:15-17
I’ve known various lights have been carried through the world like the Olympic torch. Some people carry the torch of the Amber Alert who have had a child kidnapped, some people carry the torch for Leukemia or Breast Cancer who lost a relative or child to cancer, a couple I know lost their son to sniffing car coolant and he jumped in a pool and drowned at the age of 16 years old so they go around and they talk about teens who do drugs. There are Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (M.A.D.D.) who lost their children to alcoholic drivers.
I want my torch to be God’s word. That is the light I want to carry around in my life. Proverbs 4:21-22 “Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.”
I like what David said about being confident:
I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
All through the Old Testament God is working with the Children of Israel in wanting to be their king and provider. If they put him first in their life than things will go well for them. When I married my husband, I wanted to be first in his life. At times he put his children above me, his work, or sports. Other times, he put me first place in his life. Many men are married to their jobs or if they are in the ministry they are married to the church or their ministry. I like reading the book of Hosea who married Gomer the prostitute to show the patience of God in the Old Testament with the Children of Israel. Hosea in modern day society was an "enabler" as far as supporting Gomer financially even when she was running around town.
The romance movie in life is "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
