Subliminal Messages of Life.....Hypnosis and the Birds of Paradise

Every day more and more I realize how my love for God is tested. When Jesus asked Peter if he loved him he said, "Peter do you Agape me? Peter said, "Lord you know I Phileo you." Than Jesus asked him again, "Peter do you Agape me?" Peter said, "Yes Lord I Phileo you." Finally, Jesus came down to Peter's level and said, "Peter do you Phileo me?" It's because it is very easy to love God when everything is going right in life, but much more difficult when everything is going wrong. It's because most of the time we Phileo God and those around us (conditional love).

(These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. 1 Peter 1:7)

 

Subliminal Messages of Life.....Hypnosis and the Birds of Paradise

My sister had this saying as I was growing up. “The birds of paradise may fly over my head, but I don’t have to let them build a nest there.” Birds of paradise are very

beautiful. I like to watch a movie and look for subliminal messages being sent to me to buy a product. Oh, there is a message for Apple Computer, there is one for Mountain Dew they are drinking in the movie, and there is one for smoking cigarettes. Basically many of the new car commercials are get a better model (reminds me of the grass is greener on the other side of the marriage bed.)

There are many subliminal messages and deceivers in the world today and I want to be a child of the light, not a partaker with deceit. In this generation, many people don’t pay attention to the messages in songs, they just listen to the beat, but in my generation the words were important. They had a message. Songs like, “Teach Your Children Well” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

As a believer, I can listen to love songs, read secular books, go to secular movies, watch television, there are many things I can do and it’s not necessarily damaging to my spirit, but what I am wanting to watch out for is vain philosophy and deceit. ("Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive. 1 Cor. 10:23)

In my generation there were songs they were backmasking or had hidden meanings like “Puff the Magic Dragon” or “We All Live In a Yellow Submarine.” I don’t particularly like to listen to Led Zeppelin, “Stairway to Heaven,” because I am not exactly sure what he means when he says, “There is a feeling I get when I look to the west.”

Before I became a Christian, I was a seeker and gatherer. A seeker of the truth and meaning of life and gatherer of information to find out the true meaning of life. Pilate was a little confused in Jesus day (didn’t know his head from his anus so to speak)…..He asked Jesus, “What is truth?” With the corruption of the Roman government going on he may have not told the truth a day in his life? After Jesus was crucified, it says that Herod and Pilate formed an alliance.

That day Herod and Pilate became friends—before this they had been enemies. Luke 23:12

Jesus talked about knowing the truth and how the truth will make us free. David said. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet…a light to my path.

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32

One thing about computer programming is garbage in is garbage out and we see how hackers try to put a worm or virus on our machines. Same way with McDonald’s SuperSizeMe as far as junk food in our bodies. Next, is the battlefield of our minds. David talked about the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart being “acceptable” to God.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

What are we filling up our gas tanks on (our minds)? It says that our thoughts determine the course of our lives.

Guard your heart (thoughts) above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23

We can be full of something, and it’s not the Holy Spirit. Even a few years back I had three toilets stopped up in my house, and I just happen to ask the Lord walking into church one day if my life was full of crap and immediately I heard in my spirit, “Yes you do."   I know the Lord was talking about how I’ve clouded my mind with garbage from this world and most of it was from television. I was not filled with righteousness per say.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6

I’ve noticed many movies are very “dark” and violent. It’s sort of like fasting junk food is fasting junk television shows.

I’m glad some of the Science Fiction ones I watched went off the air. I always wonder why my husband and I had such a great love life after watching Sci Fi and then I started looking at them after he left the planet with all the male enhancement and K-Y Jelly products commercials I would try to turn the sound down. Guys, you just have to get your wife watching Science Fiction and you will not have any problems with a dwindling love life after ten years of marriage and up…those subliminal messages really work! It’s all very scary.

I started flipping through the channels about all I ended up with was Dancing With the Stars, Little House on the Prairie and sappy love stories on the Hallmark Channel that made me cry to so I gave up on television.

Paul warned day and night that false prophets were going to “sneak” in the church. I already have seen all kinds of false teaching/doctrine like the “Purpose Driven Life” which all wonderful and flowerly, but many of these teachings lack a real substance or base in God’s word. False teaching can be very “subtle.” They have a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof. 2 Timothy 3:5

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than Christ. Colossians 2:8
Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: Colossians 2:20

There is a warning how false prophets “transform” into the apostles of Jesus Christ.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Cor. 11:13-15

Look at the Message Bible that changes the word of God. Check out the Lord’s prayer (as it is above so below) similar to a Satanic chant. That is not what the Lord’s prayer says, it says, “Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven.”

Jim Jones and David Koresh had a whole cult following and got his followers to drink kool-aid, but there is a promise for those who listen to God’s voice and one little lady hid under the bed and did not drink the kool-aid. Unfortunately, they shot and killed a senator who tried to rescue some of those people and many innocent children lost their lives. It’s the same with Jihad or those in war that send their children strapped with explosives in the name of religion or freedom.

Shepherds were despised in Egypt and so Joseph told his father Jacob to tell the Egyptians that they were shepherds. It’s seems to be one of those “half-truths” in the Bible, but my understanding is Joseph was trying to keep their people out of entanglement with Egyptian culture. Although, we have signs the entanglement did not work when the children of Israel came out of Egypt, they whined about the food in the wilderness. It’s easy to get “entangled” in our society.

No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. 2 Timothy 2:4
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 2 Peter 2:20
